Welcome to artful adoptee. I am a transracial adoptee, social worker, board-certified music therapist and late bloomer artist. I have been playing the piano since I was eight-years old and eventually studied piano at Centenary College of Louisiana where I graduated with a B.M. in Piano Performance. I also like to imagine that I occasionally sing a song or two on pitch and sang in the Centenary College Choir.
When I was a little girl, my parents gave me a record player. From then on, the music never stopped. I had a hot pink 45 RPM record holder to protect all of my 45’s and quite the collection of 33’s, which ranged from The Sound of Music to ACDC.
I’ve never been formally trained in art, but kept a sketchbook while growing up and started out drawing landscapes with a no. 2 pencil. Wish I still had that sketchbook! Of late, I have taken to art journaling, mixed media, sketching, painting, and most of all exploring and experimenting. This blog is an eclectic collection of what inspires me and a chronicle of my growth as an artist. You can also visit my other blog, Beyond Two Worlds, about adoption. Cheers, and thanks for dropping in.
